Below are the Empire 8 Players of the Week, released on November 27, 2023, for games played from November 20 – November 26. It is the 13th Empire 8 weekly honors release of the 2023-24 season. Sports featured include men’s and women’s basketball.
 
MEN’S BASKETBALL
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Luke Bourgault, Utica, Sr., F, Troy, NY/LaSalle Institute
Bourgault starred in Utica’s 71-56 win over SUNY Poly last Monday evening with a Pioneer career-high of 21 points, including shooting 3-for-6 from beyond the arc and 4-for-4 from the foul line. He also was effective on defense with four steals and active on the glass with five rebounds and a block.
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Khalel Noteman, Russell Sage, Fr., F/C, Brooklyn, NY/Canarsie
Noteman registered a career-high 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting to go along with nine rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes action on Tuesday at Mount St. Mary College. It is his second E8 weekly accolade of 2023-24.
 
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Isabella Astorino, Hartwick, Sr., F, Warwick, NY/Warwick
Astorino excelled in Hartwick's 82-60 win over SUNY Morrisville on Tuesday evening, dropping a career-high 25 points on 11-of-20 shooting from the floor. She completed the double-double with 10 boards and nearly completed a triple-double as the forward tallied seven assists to go along with two steals and a block across 30 minutes of action.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Joleen Lusk, St. John Fisher, Fr., F, Cherry Valley, NY/Cherry Valley Springfield
Lusk led the Cardinals with 22 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the floor, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals in St. John Fisher’s 76-61 win over Penn State-Behrend on Tuesday afternoon. It is her second straight E8 weekly accolade of the 2023-24 season.
