Empire 8 Executive Director, Chuck Mitrano was featured on the “Not Even D2” podcast recently with current Alfred University Men’s Basketball player and aspiring podcaster, Kenneth Allison Jr.
The two covered topics such as Mitrano’s path to becoming Empire 8 Executive Director, the history and future of the E8, the role of athletics in higher education, E8 engagement at the national level and NCAA Division III Championships Committee consideration of adopting Pairwise as a way to rank and select teams in all sports in the near future.
Allison Jr., a junior guard for the Alfred Saxons men’s basketball team, is a Communications Studies major with minors in Coaching, Social Justice Studies and Sociology, who solo hosts the “Not Even D2” podcast. He covers NCAA Division III basketball, interviewing players, coaches and administrators involved in DIII. The podcast can be found on all podcast platforms. Launched in October 2023, Mitrano’s episode is the seventh and most recent in Allison Jr’s lineup.
"I've loved every bit of working in Division III sports media," said Allison Jr. "Hearing about the different experiences of those involved in Division III has been intriguing. Not Even D2 will continue to keep Division III supporters informed about the behind the scenes of Division III basketball, and hopefully, expand to hear the perspectives of Division III athletics from all sports."
