St. John Fisher University leads the 2023-24 Empire 8 Commissioner’s Cup standings, as the fall standings were announced on December 8. The Cardinals posted a 0.827 composite score and lead second place Nazareth University by just over a tenth of a point following the fall season. The E8 will post updated Commissioner's Cup standings following the winter sports season and the final standings will be released in May after the completion of the spring sports campaign.

Six different institutions won E8 titles in the fall, with Nazareth and Alfred University both winning a pair of league crowns apiece. For the complete E8 Commissioner's Cup standings, please see below.

The Cardinals earned a total of 51.25 points from their fall sports teams, with runner-up performances in women’s cross country, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, field hockey and women’s tennis and a women’s volleyball regular season championship. St. John Fisher qualified for the E8 postseason tournaments in five team sports, while finishing in the top half of the standings in all eight fall sports.

Nazareth is currently in second place, with a percentage total of 0.720 on the strength of its first women’s cross country championship and third consecutive women’s soccer title in addition to a runner-up finish in men’s cross country. Utica University is third overall with a percentage total of 0.613 on the strength of the top football finish among full-time E8 member institutions, in addition to a third place finish in men’s cross country and playoff berths in four sports.

Alfred University is right behind Utica in fourth with a composite score of 0.611 after winning its first women’s volleyball championship in program history and first women’s tennis title in 19 years. Hartwick College rounded out the top five with a percentage total of 0.577, as its field hockey teams won its second straight Empire 8 title, women’s tennis earned the regular season crown and women’s volleyball and men’s soccer enjoyed strong seasons.

Houghton University, Russell Sage College, Elmira College and Keuka College round out the 2023-24 Empire 8 Commissioner’s Cup standings after the fall season. Houghton earned its first men’s cross country championship this fall, while Elmira won its first league title in 23 years, claiming the 2023 Empire 8 Men’s Soccer Championship.

Commissioner’s Cup points are awarded based on each team's finish in the Empire 8 conference standings at the completion of the regular season and post-season. Points are awarded on a scale dependent upon the number of schools that sponsor the sport (affiliate members are not calculated into the point scale). A team's regular season finish will be added to its post-season finish and divided by two for the final total for that sport.

Teams tied for a position in the regular season standings are ranked based on tiebreaker scenarios. The actual number of points earned is then divided by the amount of possible points for each school based on conference-sponsored sports to determine their overall percentage.
