Four Empire 8 Men’s and Women's Cross Country Teams Honored by the USTFCCCA For Academic Success

Empire 8 institutions Alfred University, Nazareth College, St. John Fisher University and Utica University were named 2022 NCAA Division III All-Academic Teams, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
 
Overall, there were 212 women's teams and 189 men’s programs that received All-Academic honors in NCAA Division III.
 
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
 
On the women's side, three-time defending champion St. John Fisher also excelled in the classroom with a tremendous 3.74 GPA, while Alfred recorded an excellent 3.7 mark. Nazareth recorded a 3.5 mark, while Utica had a team GPA of 3.45.

The Nazareth men, who also won the 2022 Empire 8 Cross Country Championship, led all E8 institutions with a team GPA of 3.4, while St. John Fisher was right behind with a 3.27 mark. Alfred compiled a 3.24 mark, while Utica had a team GPAs of 3.13 to qualify.
