Empire 8 Well Represented as 2022-23 USBWA Rochester Area Men’s Basketball Selections are Announced

Daniel Cook of St. John Fisher named Player of the Year; Jaylen Savage named Freshman of the Year

Seven Empire 8 student-athletes were selected to the 2022-23 United States Basketball Writers Association Rochester Area NCAA Division II-III Teams. The team was selected by The Rochester Chapter of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. Daniel Cook of St. John Fisher University was named the Player of the Year, while Jaylen Savage of Nazareth College was named Freshman of the Year.
 
Cook, Devin Milton of Keuka College, along with Savage and Jonathan Park of Nazareth were named to the USBWA Rochester Area First Team, while Nazareth’s Logan Blankenberg and St. John Fisher's Jack Foley and Ryan Gentile were Honorable Mention selections.

Cook, Milton and Park were repeat selections. Cook was also named the 2022-23 Empire 8 Player of the Year for the third straight season, while earning D3hoops.com and NABC All-American honors. Park was the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year, while Savage garnered E8 Rookie of the Year accolades.
 
Student-athletes were selected from the nine Rochester area institutions which include: Keuka, Nazareth and St. John Fisher from the Empire 8, Roberts Wesleyan College, University of Rochester, RIT, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Geneseo and Hobart and William Smith College.
