The Soaring Eagles answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning as Marco Macri '26 scored following a passed ball and a throwing error by the catcher to make it 2-1.

Chris Jones '25 would give the Purple & Gold the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning with a double to right field that allowed both Matteo Salvati '25 and Kaden Bolt '26 to score and give Elmira a 3-2 lead. A walk to Kade Cochran '26 with the bases loaded increased the advantage to 4-2 before a sacrifice fly off the bat of Jarod Signorelli '23 extended the lead to 5-2.

Elmira would add several insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning as Jourdan Plaisted '21, Logan Pizzullo '25, Signorelli, and Bolt each tallied run-scoring hits in the frame. The Soaring Eagles would also work three walks with the bases loaded as EC would take a 12-2 advantage to the seventh inning.

Kruis notched his second win of the weekend after tossing the final 2.2 innings for Elmira after entering the contest in the top of the fifth inning. Elmira starter Jack Finnerty '23 allowed a pair of runs off five hits through 2.1 innings of work, while Matthew Schultz '26 and Justin Hyde '25 helped to keep the Mavericks off the scoreboard.

The Soaring Eagles would get onto the scoreboard first in game two against the Mavericks as a single from Macri to right field in the bottom of the first inning allowed Salvati to score and make it 1-0. Salvati helped push EC's advantage to 2-0 in the third inning with a single that brought home Bolt.

Medaille would score its lone run of the contest in the top of the sixth inning as a single to right field brought a runner around to trim the deficit to 2-1. The Soaring Eagles would add an insurance run in the eighth inning as Signorelli worked a walk with the bases loaded to allow Nick Lees '25 to score and give Elmira a 3-1 edge over the Mavericks. Kruis would shut the door on any potential rally by the Mavericks in the ninth inning and notched his first save of the season.

Elmira starter Ray Mineo '23 earned his second win of the season for the Purple & Gold as he tossed five innings and scattered five hits for the Soaring Eagles. Kyle Tubbs '22 also worked a pair of scoreless innings out of the bullpen for EC before giving way to Kruis with two outs in the eighth inning.

Defensively, the Soaring Eagles turned six double plays on the afternoon against the Mavericks with all three in game one ending the inning and one in game two ending the frame. Elmira also recorded 20 groundball outs between both games while staying error-free defensively on the field.
