Six Empire 8 soccer programs (fthree women's and two men's teams) were named United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award winners to recognize exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2022-23 academic year.
A total of 801 college teams (307 men, 494 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 179 schools who had both their men’s and women’s programs among the recipients. St. John Fisher University was the lone E8 institution to garner academic awards for both the men’s and women’s programs. Alfred University had the highest team grade-point average among all E8 women’s programs (3.64) for the third straight year, while Hartwick College enjoyed the top men’s program GPA (3.4).
College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches Services Program with a composite grade-point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2022-23 academic year.
