Senior defensive back Raylens Boutin and junior punter Dan Giangrasso of SUNY Brockport were named 2023 D3football.com Preseason All-Americans. Boutin earned the honor for the third consecutive season. Boutin is a 2023 first team selection, while Giangrasso was a third team pick.
Boutin, a native of Nyack, NY, previously garnered 2021 D3football.com first team and 2020 third team Preseason All-America honors. Last season, Boutin intercepted six passes and had nine pass breakups to go along with 23 solo tackles and 35 total tackles. He added three tackles for a loss and one sack.
Boutin, the 2019 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, garnered All-E8 first team accolades for the second time in 2022. He finished the 2022 season with seven pass break-ups, and he also added a pair of interceptions. He finished ranked fourth on the team with 42 tackles, including a team-high 33 solo stops. and he had two or more pass break ups in seven games. In three seasons, Boutin has 121 tackles, 12 interceptions and 44 passes defended with four touchdowns.
As Brockport's punter, Giangrasso separated himself from the rest of the field at the position in the Empire 8 in 2022. He had the highest average of 42.2 yards per kick in the conference, which also ranked eighth in the nation. Giangrasso, a native of Poughkeepsie, NY, totaled 1,435 yards on 34 punts which included seven kicks of 50 or more yards and 12 kicks that pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line.
Brockport begins the 2023 regular season at Buffalo State on Thursday, August 31. Week one action is also set to take place September 1-2, as all seven Empire 8 teams are in action. League play begins on September 30.
