Empire 8 Well Represented on D3football.com Team of the Week for Week 10

The SUNY Cortland offensive line of Nate Graser, Aidan Glynn, Ryan Bitka, Jayden Lont and Cody Aikey, in addition to Cortland cornerback Nazair Jean-Lubin and SUNY Morrisville tight end Quamel Jarvis were named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The Cortland offensive line earned their third weekly honor of the season, while Jarvis earned his second weekly accolade, as 13 different Empire 8 players/position groups have combined to earn 17 D3football.com Team of the Week honors in 2024.

Cortland gained 593 yards (an average of 6.7 yards per play) and registered 30 first downs in a 29-28 win at Brockport that clinched its fourth straight Empire 8 Championship. Brockport came into the game allowing the fewest points (6.8 per game) and eighth fewest yards per game in Division III (211.1 per game). The Red Dragons are fourth nationally, averaging 535.3 yards per game of total offense.

Jean-Lubin, a native of Freeport, NY, was also named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week. he had two key interceptions and broke up another in SUNY Cortland's 29-28 win at SUNY Brockport as the Red Dragons clinched their fourth straight Empire 8 title. His first interception came on a sliding grab late in the second quarter, as Brockport was driving near the red zone and looking to go ahead two scores. After his interception, Cortland drove and kicked a key field goal to end the half. Jean-Lubin’s second interception came on Brockport's final play from the Cortland 33-yard line as he picked off a pass at the 12-yard line to seal the win with 11 seconds left. Earlier in the fourth, he broke up a pass in the end zone on third down, helping Cortland eventually force a punt with Brockport up 28-26.

Jarvis, a senior tight end from Rochester, NY, posted six receptions for a team high 129 yards in a 14-11 win vs. St. John Fisher, scoring a touchdown. Jarvis' score came on a 39-yard pass play along the visitors sideline to put the Mustangs ahead 14-0 in the second quarter. He has 35 catches for 522 yards and nine carries for 97 yards and five total touchdowns this season.

The final weekend of E8 regular season play takes place this weekend and features Morrisville home versus Hartwick College at noon, SUNY Brockport at Alfred at 1 p.m. and St. John Fisher University hosting Utica University at 1 p.m. In addition, the 65th Cortaca Juge features Ithaca at No. 2 Cortland which begins at noon.
