The 2024 NCAA Division III Cross Country Regionals are set for Saturday, Nov. 16. The Empire 8 will have six institutions competing at the Niagara Regional, and Russell Sage College competing at the Mideast Regional. The women’s races will begin at 11 a.m., with the men’s races following at 12 p.m.
The Niagara Regional is being held at the Fredonia State Cross Country Course in Fredonia, NY, hosted by SUNY Fredonia, while the Mideast Regional will be hosted by Connecticut College.
A total of 10 teams (one per regional) will automatically qualify for the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Nov. 18. There will be 22 at-large teams selected by a committee that will be announced on Nov. 17. SUNY Geneseo is looking to win its ninth straight Niagara Region men's championship and eighth consecutive women's title.
A total of 70 individuals will automatically qualify for the national championship. The top-seven runners not from a qualifying team will be determined the top-seven qualifiers per region. Those qualifiers will also be confirmed and announced on Nov. 17.
The SUNY Geneseo men’s program won its first E8 title on Nov. 2. The top-five finishing teams at the conference championship were: 1. SUNY Geneseo (20), 2. SUNY Brockport (50), 3. Houghton (103), 4. Nazareth (104) and 5. Utica (136). Geneseo first-year Ryan Hagan won the Empire 8 individual crown over the 8,000-meter course in a meet-record time of 24:10.2.
SUNY Geneseo's women’s program won its first Empire 8 title on Nov. 2. The top-five finishing teams at the conference championship were: 1. SUNY Geneseo (15), 2. Nazareth (82) St. John Fisher (42), 3.Utica (89), 4. St. John Fisher (98) and 5. SUNY Brockport (106). SUNY Geneseo senior Penelope Greene won the 6,000-meter title in a championship record time of 21:26.1.
