SUNY Brockport Wraps Up Record Breaking Season in Opening Round of 2024 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Tournament

SCRANTON, PA – The Women's Soccer team finished up their season as they faced Wesleyan University in Scranton, PA in the first round of the NCAA Tournament where the Cardinals took home the 4-1 victory. The Golden Eagles ended their record-breaking season at 15-2-2 and 10-1 in conference play. 

Wesleyan got the ball rolling and opened the scoring book at 28:48 with a goal scored by Kerenza Leahey putting Wesleyan on the board 1-0 going into halftime.

Coming back after the halftime break, Leahey was able to sneak another past the goalkeeper just 10 minutes in taking the Cardinals to 2-0. Just 10 minutes later Brockport got on the board with a solo goal by Autumn Edwards taking the score up to 2-1 halfway through the second period. 

Right before the end of the game, Wesleyan made two more goals withing three minutes of each other, one from Sheridan Snow with an assist from Katie O' Connell and another by O'Connel herself with an assist from Kerenza Leahy. 

Goalkeeper Madeline McCrosson was in between the pipes for the Green and Gold and showed out with a total of four saves on the day. 

Brockport fought a tough matchup but still made their mark with eight shots with four on goal. Autumn Edwards, Jaylah Cossin, Lyndsey Miller, Megan Gerber, and Sierra Edwards all got their foot on the ball contributing to the shots. 

The Golden Eagles fought hard for their record-breaking season and finished off strong earning their spot into the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2006. The team claimed 10 all-conference selections and snagged a trio of Empire 8 Awards to end the season off.
