Three Empire 8 institutions (Alfred University, SUNY Brockport and SUNY Morrisville) were selected to play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Bowl Games. All three games will take place at noon on Saturday, Nov. 23 at campus sites. Alfred will head to Western Connecticut State, SUNY Brockport will host University of Rochester and SUNY Morrisville will host Stevenson University.
Asa S. Bushnell Bowl - Alfred University (7-3) at Western Connecticut State (8-2) - 12 p.m.
The Alfred University football team, who finished with their most regular season wins dating back to the 2017 season, are scheduled to face Western Connecticut State University as part of the Asa S. Bushnell Bowl this upcoming Saturday.
The Saxons are coming off a 23-14 win over SUNY Brockport this past weekend, marking their first victory over the Golden Eagles since the 2016 season.
WestConn wrapped up their 2024 regular season with a 58-17 win over Castleton to finish with an 8-2 overall record. The Wolves finished second in the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference (MASCAC).
Clayton Chapman Bowl - University of Rochester (6-4) at SUNY Brockport (7-3) - 12 p.m.
The SUNY Brockport football team earned its eighth consecutive postseason berth, as the Golden Eagles were selected to host the 2024 ECAC Clayton Chapman Bowl game against the University of Rochester at Bob Boozer Field. The Golden Eagles finished the regular season with a 7-3 overall record and a 5-2 ledger in the Empire 8 Conference. University of Rochester posted a 6-4 overall record and a 2-4 mark in the Liberty League.
Brockport boasts one of the top defenses in the country and capped the regular season ranked fourth nationally in scoring defense, allowing an average of just 10.6 points per game. Brockport finished the regular season ranked ninth nationally in red zone defense (.583) and 23rd nationally in total defense (253.7 per game).
Robert M. "Scotty" Whitelaw Bowl - Stevenson University (5-5) at SUNY Morrisville (6-4) - 12 p.m.
SUNY Morrisville football received a program fifth post-season nod, hosting Stevenson University in the ECAC Division III Robert M. Scotty Whitelaw Bowl from Drake Field.
Morrisville wrapped up the regular season Saturday with a 6-4 overall record, putting together a 5-2 slate within the Empire 8 conference schedule.
Stevenson went 5-5 overall on the season, 5-4 within MAC play and will make the trip from Maryland for the program's first meeting, one that will be a battle of the Mustangs.
"We are excited to play in a post-season game against a quality opponent," said Morrisville head coach Ed Raby, Jr. "We are super proud of our team and happy our seniors will get another opportunity to play in front of a home crowd."
