Jaylah Cossin of SUNY Brockport Named 2024 United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American

Graduate student Jaylah Cossin of SUNY Brockport was named a 2024 United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Third Team Women's Scholar All-American.
 
Cossin, a native of Silver Creek, NY, was previously named a 2024 United Soccer Coaches Division III First Team All-American, was the 2024 Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year, an All-Empire 8 first team selection and garnered United Soccer Coaches All-Region III first team accolades. She helped lead the Golden Eagles to a 15-2-2 overall record, 10-1 record in league play, regular season crown and No. 1 seed in the Empire 8 Women’s Soccer Tournament and an at-large selection into the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championship Tournament. Brockport out-scored opponents, 52-8 this season and 34-4 in league play.
 
Cossin led all Empire 8 student-athletes in scoring with 11 goals, eight assists and 30 points this season. Five of her 11 goals were game-winning tallies. She was tremendous in E8 league play, recording 19 points on six goals and seven assists in 11 conference games. Overall, Cossin had at least one goal in 10 games and a point in 12 contests. She recorded a season-high four points on three occasions, two of which came against E8 runner-up Nazareth University on Oct. 9 and in the regular season finale that clinched the No. 1 seed in a 3-1 win over eventual E8 Champion SUNY Geneseo on Oct. 30.
 
She tallied 61 points on 23 goals and 15 assists in two seasons at SUNY Brockport. Cossin recorded a 3.55 grade-point average as a social work major.

Cossin became the first Empire 8 women’s soccer student-athlete to earn USC All-American honors since 2018.
 
Earlier in November, Cossin was one of a record 14 Empire 8 women’s soccer student-athletes to be named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region team.
