WEBSTER, NY – Nazareth University won three of six events on day three of the 2024 Empire 8 Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship, held in conjunction with the Allegheny Empire Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center on Friday, February 16.
The five-time defending champion Golden Flyers maintained a nearly 200-point lead after day three with 722 points. Hartwick is second with 548 points, while Alfred University is third with 351 points.
Dani DeCarlo of Hartwick opened the evening with a win in the 400-yard individual medley, hitting the wall first in a time of 4:52.55.
Sophomore Kamila Roman earned Alfred’s first individual win of the weekend, as she won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:01.18
Julie Filpski won her fourth event of the weekend, taking the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:58.02.
Courtney Pierce, the reigning E8 Rookie and Swimmer of the Year, earned a win in the 100-yard breastroke with a time of 1:06.75.
Nazareth’s Isabella Jaskowski earned a close victory in the 100-yard backstroke to claim her second straight league title in a time of 1:00.53.
Jaskowski and Filipski made it two wins on the evening, teaming with Grace Cioffi and Caroline Coleman to take the 400-yard medley relay in a time of 4:03.93.
