Nazareth Wins Sixth Straight Team Title at 2024 Empire 8 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships

WEBSTER, NY – Nazareth College rolled to its sixth straight league title, as the Golden Flyers earned the 2024 Empire 8 Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship, held in conjunction with the Allegheny Empire Championships at the Webster Aquatic Center came to a close on Saturday, February 17.
 
The Golden Flyers recorded 1,066 points. Hartwick College was the runner-up in second with 793 points, while Alfred University placed third with 675 points.
 
Cate Russo of Hartwick earned the win in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:17.34. Her teammate Dani DeCarlo garnered the victory in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.79.
 
Fellow Hartwick standout Courtney Pierce rolled to a decisive win in the 200-yard breaststroke, hitting the wall first in 2:24.52. Pierce would earn Empire 8 Swimmer of the Meet honors for the second straight season. She won both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke during the week and was runner-up in the 200-yard individual medley.
 
Nazareth diver Elizabeth Tripp won the 3-meter event with a score of 451.80. She earned her second straight Empire 8 Diver of the Meet honor for her efforts, as she also placed second in the 1-meter event Thursday.
 
Nazareth’s Isabella Jaskowski won her second E8 title in the 200-yard backstroke, hitting the wall first in a time of 2:12.45. Ellen Burroughs of Nazareth won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.56 seconds. Jaskowski and Burroughs also partnered with Julie Filipski and Caroline Coleman to earn the E8 win in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:39.42.
