Houghton University sophomore Noelle Linenfelser and Utica University junior Nora Devitt earned Empire 8 individual honors at the 2023-24 Empire 8 Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships from the Kerr Pegula Field House on the campus of Houghton University on Feb. 23-24.
Linenfelser was named 2024 Empire 8 Indoor Track Championship Athlete of the Meet after sweeping both the 3,000- and 5,000-meter championship races at her home venue. Linenfelser won the 3,000-meters by nearly seven seconds in a time of 10:46.47. In addition, she earned the win in the 5,000-meters by just under 15 seconds in 18:40.62.
Devitt earned 2024 Empire 8 Indoor Championship Field Athlete of the Meet honors after winning the long jump with a leap of 5.56 meters and triple jump with a tremendous leap of 11.45 meters. Devitt is currently 29th nationally in the long jump and 35th in the triple jump.
The Empire 8 Track Athlete, Field Athlete, Rookie and Coach of the Year will be announced after the NCAA Championships in mid-March, along with the All-Conference Teams.
