Four Empire 8 Men’s and Six Women's Cross Country Teams Honored by the USTFCCCA For Academic Success in 2023

Empire 8 institutions Houghton University, Nazareth College, St. John Fisher University and Utica University men's and women's programs were named 2023 NCAA Division III All-Academic Teams, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Both the Keuka College and Russell Sage College women's teams also earned that honor.
 
Overall, there were 236 women's teams and 195 men’s programs that received All-Academic honors in NCAA Division III.
 
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
 
On the women's side, St. John Fisher excelled in the classroom with a tremendous 3.73 GPA, while Keuka recorded an excellent 3.68 mark and Houghton finished with a 3.65 GPA. League champion Nazareth recorded a 3.6 mark, while Utica had a team GPA of 3.43 and Russell Sage compiled a 3.37 grade-point average.

The St. John FIsher men led all E8 men's institutions with a team GPA of 3.38, while 2023 E8 Champion Houghton and league runner-up Nazareth were right behind with a 3.36 mark. Utica compiled a 3.15 mark to qualify.
