Empire 8 Quartet Earns 2023-24 D3hoops.com Women's All-Region Accolades

Joleen Lusk of St. John Fisher named Rookie of the Year; Sidney Tomasso of St. John Fisher garners First Team accolades

Empire 8 women’s basketball standouts Sidney Tomasso and Joleen Lusk of St. John Fisher University, Olivia Dobrovosky of Nazareth University and Vanessa Hall of Utica University earned 2023-24 D3hoops.com All-Region 3 honors on Tuesday, March 12. Tomasso earned first team accolades, while Lusk earned second team honors and was the Region 3 Rookie of the Year. Doborovosky garnered second team honors, while Hall was a third team selection.
 
Tomasso, a junior guard from Waverly, NY, who was last month was named the 2023-24 Empire 8 Player of the Year, enjoyed a tremendous junior season for the Cardinals, finishing second in the Empire 8 in scoring, having averaged 16.1 points per game to go along with 6.7 boards per contest, eighth-best in the league. In addition, Tomasso also averaged 1.9 steals per game, which was eighth in the league, while shooting a league-best 81.0 percent from the foul line. Tomasso, now a two-time All-E8 first team selection, scored in double figures 24 times this season and had nine games with at least 20 points.

Tomasso was also named to the Empire 8 Championship Most Valuable Player after leading the Cardinals to their third straight E8 title and berth in the NCAA Tournament. St. John Fisher finished the 2024-25 season with a 24-5 mark. St. John Fisher has a 76-11 record in Tomasso's first three seasons.

Lusk, who was named the Empire 8 Co-Rookie of the Year and earned All-E8 first team honors in 2023-24, averaged 13.3 points, sixth-best in the league, a league-leading 9.5 boards and 1.8 blocks per game (second most), while shooting 44.4 percent from the floor, sixth in the Empire 8. Lusk, a native of Cherry Valley, NY, was a four-time Empire 8 Rookie of the Week and recorded 10 double-doubles this season.

Lusk is the second straight E8 studet-athlete to earn D3hoops.com Region III Rookie of the Year honors.

Dobrovosky, a native of Skaneateles, NY, transfered to Nazareth for her graduate season after a successful stint with SUNY Oneonta and earned All-E8 first team honors in 2023-24. She averaged 12.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.4 steals per game in 2023-24, while shooting 50.4 percent from the floor, which was second-best in the conference. She was second in the league in assists and third in steals per game. A three-time Empire 8 Player of the Week, Dobrovosky led the Golden Flyers to a share of the E8 regular season title and a 22-4 mark in 2023-24.
 
Hall, who shared Empire 8 Co-Rookie of the Year honors with Lusk and earned All-E8 first team honors in 2023-24, led the league in scoring, averaging 17.3 points per game. a native of Whitesville, NY, Hall was third in the league, shooting 46 percent from the floor and was second in the E8, shooting 80.4 percent from the foul line. In addition, Hall pulled down 5.3 rebounds per game and led the team in blocked shots. Hall scored in double figures in all but one game hit the 20-point mark 11 times in addition to earning E8 Rookie of the Week honors five times.
