The Alfred University, Hartwick College and St. John Fisher University women’s volleyball teams earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT for the 2023-24 season.
More than 1,400 teams from NCAA, NAIA, Two-Year Colleges and high school organizations earned the AVCA/INTENT Team Academic Award for the 2023-24 season.
St. John Fisher now has 10 straight AVCA All-Academic Team honors and 16 overall. Alfred earned its seventh Team Academic Award, while Hartwick garnered its second straight honor.
“We are pleased that the record-setting success of the 2023-24 season on the court has extended to the classroom, too, as evidenced by more programs earning the AVCA Team Academic Award than ever before,” says AVCA CEO Dr. Jaime Gordon. “This is a great example of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their full potential as both students and athletes.”
The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
