Hartwick College Announces 2024 Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Class

ONEONTA, NY – The Hartwick College Athletics Hall of Fame Committee is pleased to announce its 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Class. The induction ceremony will take place in the evening on Saturday, September 21 in Lambros Arena as a part of Hartwick College's True Blue Weekend festivities.
 
2024 Class Biographies:
 
Amanda Barton Boltus '11 (Field Hockey):  Barton Boltus was a three-time Empire 8 First-Team selection for the Hawks as well as a three-time All-Region selection. Throughout her four-year career, she led her team to three-straight Empire 8 Semifinals and one ECAC Finals appearance. As a midfielder, Barton Boltus ended her career with eight goals and 14 assists in 71 games played for the program.
 
Laurie Darling Gutheil '95 (Women's Soccer):  Darling Gutheil played four seasons for the Hawks, earning All-State and All-EAA honors in 1994. She was also a part of Hartwick's 1992 ECAC Championship squad.  After Hartwick, Darling Gutheil went on to coach at The College of St. Rose for 28 seasons, guiding the Golden Knights to 11 regular season conference championships, 11 conference tournament champtionships, eight Final Fours, two NCAA Finals, and the Division II NCAA National Championship in 2011. She is currently one of the all-time winningest coaches in NCAA history.
 
Sami Capparelli Pencar '14 (Women's Water Polo):  Capparelli was a four-year player for the Hawks, ending her career as the program's third-highest goal scorer with 283, including a staggering 139 goals in 2013. She was a two-time Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Honorable Mention All-American, the College Water Polo Association (CWPA) Western Division Player of the Year in 2013 and a two-time CWPA First Team Selection.
 
Charlie Kadupski '78 (Men's Soccer):  Kadupski transferred into Hartwick from Mitchell College and participated in two of the most successful seasons in the program's rich history. He was a part of the 1977 NCAA Division I Championship team. After his playing career at Hartwick, Kadupski went on to play professionally from 1978-1985, accepted inductions into the Mitchell College Athletic Hall of Fame and Connecticut Soccer Hall of Fame, as well as founding The Sport Source which helps thousands of aspiring college bound student-athletes utilize their academic and athletic accomplishments to receive scholarships both academically and athletically.
 
Michael Phillips '11 (Men's Swimming and Diving):  Phillips was a four-year swimmer for the Hawks specializing in the freestyle and breaststroke events. At the end of the 2011-2012 season, he came away with four NCAA Honorable Mention honors with an 11th place finish in the 100 breaststroke, 13th place finish in the 400 free relay, 14th place finish in the 200 free relay, and 15th place finish in the 800 free relay.  However, it was his eighth place finish at the NCAA Championships that made him an All-American in the 200 breaststroke.

The Hartwick College Athletics Hall of Fame honors those who have made outstanding contributions to Hartwick's intercollegiate athletics programs.  Its purpose is to perpetuate the memory of those who have brought distinction, honor, and excellence to Hartwick College through their athletic accomplishments.  With the addition of the 2024 class, the Athletic Department will have inducted 176 former student-athletes, coaches, teams, and supporters into the Hall of Fame.
