PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University athletics department has added Mike Hogan as its Athletic Communications Coordinator, Jen Granger, Interim Athletic Director, announced on Friday. He will oversee and direct the department's sports information efforts, leading a staff responsible for written and visual storytelling and content, website management, statistic recording and more.
Hogan came to Fisher from Cornell University, where he began his athletic communications career in August 2023. He primarily covered the Big Red's nationally renowned wrestling program and softball team while serving as the secondary contact for the football and men's and women's ice hockey teams.
While covering Cornell wrestling, Hogan helped enhance the internal coverage of the team during the 2023-24 season. He worked closely with Cornell's creative content staff to create social media content and had a key role in the production of 'Blood, Sweat and Glory II,' a mini-movie on the team's second-place finish and Vito Arujau's 133-pound national title at the 2024 NCAA Wrestling Championships.
As the secondary football contact, Hogan helped produce weekly media guides, assisted the stats crew during games and wrote several stories for CornellBigRed.com, including game previews, recaps and features.
Hogan began his professional career as a sports journalist, covering the University of Wisconsin's football and men's basketball teams for 247Sports from June 2021 to July 2023. In college, he covered the Tennessee Titans as a staff reporter for AllTitans/SI.com during the COVID-19-altered 2020-21 season. He covered St. Bonaventure University's Division I men's basketball program for various publications as a student, including Tapinto Greater Olean and The Bona Venture, SBU's student-run newspaper.
From Grafton, Wisconsin, Hogan graduated from St. Bonaventure's Jandoli School of Communication in 2021. He was the 61st recipient of the Mark Hellinger Award, presented annually to the senior who demonstrates academic excellence and shows genuine promise in journalism and mass communications. He was honored during a ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., in October 2021.
