Utica University defensive lineman
Jordyn Davis was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Davis becomes the tenth Empire 8 student-athletes to earn the prestigious weekly honor in 2025.
Davis, a junior defensive lineman from Hempstead, NY, racked up nine total tackles (four solo) from his spot on the interior defensive line in a 27-21 win against Empire 8 foe SUNY Morrisville on Saturday, including a tackle for loss. Davis, who also serves as one of Utica's team captains, also had a pass breakup late in the game to set the Mustangs up with fourth-and-long in an unsuccessful comeback attempt.
Davis has 26 total tackles (10 solo), 5.0 tackles for loss and a team-high 3.5 sacks this season.
Four E8 teams are in action on Saturday, Oct. 18, as SUNY Brockport hosts Alfred State College at noon and SUNY Cortland hosts Alfred University at 1 p.m. Utica, Hartwick College, SUNY Morrisville and St. John Fisher University are on bye this week.
