The St. John Fisher University quintet of seniors Kiera Hartpence and Reilly Morrow, juniors Ana Gutman and Kaylene Noble in addition to freshman Kaylna Dannenberg earned 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region honors on Wednesday, Nov. 19. AVCA All-Americans will be announced on Nov. 26. Dannenberg was named the Region 3 Freshman of the Year, while St. John Fisher head coach Kelly Greapentrog was named Regional Coach of the Year.
Dannenberg, Morrow, and Noble earned All-Region III first team accolades, while Gutman and Hartepence were honorable mention selections. Four of the five student-athletes were previously named 2025 All-Empire 8 first team selections. Gurman and Noble earned All-Region accolades for the third straight season, while Hartpence earned her second All-Region accolade.
Greapentrog and assistant coaches Nicksen Sivongsa, Eddie Deoreuang, and Laura Thiele were honored as the Empire 8 Coaching Staff of the Year last week. St. John Fisher won the 2025 Empire 8 Championship after finishing 11-0 in league play this season and winning the three tournament matches, all in three sets. The Cardinals enter the NCAA Tournament having won 29 consecutive matches and are 29-1, ranked No. 15 in the final NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball National Power Index. The Cardinals lead the nation in lowest opponents hitting percentage (0.048), are seventh in hitting percentage (0.261) and are 12th nationally in both kills and assists per set. The Cardinals enter the NCAA Tournament with the third most wins in Division III and second best winning percentage (.967).
Dannenberg, who last week was named the 2025 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year and earned All-E8 first team honors, is enjoying a tremendous debut season for the Cardinals, slamming 329 kills on the season with an impressive .256 hitting percentage to go along with 232 digs and 33 service aces. A native of Manlius, NY, she is second in the E8 behind teammate Kaylene Noble in both kills (3.58) and points (4.16) per set and is fifth in hitting percentage. Dannenberg has recorded at least 10 kills in a match 23 times and has nine double-doubles on the season.
Morrow, a native of Moore, OK, was named the 2025 Empire 8 Player of the Year. The senior setter is the leader of a stout St. John Fisher offense that is seventh nationally with a .261 hitting percentage, 12th with 12.57 assists per set and 12th nationally with 13.49 kills per set. Individually, Morrow leads the Empire 8 and is ninth in Division III, averaging 10.45 assists per set. She has dished out 920 assists, while slamming 42 service aces to go along with 38 blocks and 198 digs. Morrow has averaged at least 11 assists per set in 22 matches this season, including 17 in a row heading into the NCAA Tournament.
Noble, the 2023 Empire 8 Player and Rookie of the Year and AVCA Honorable Mention All-American, once again has enjoyed a strong season for the Cardinals, recording a league-best total of 380 kills and 411 points to go along with 244 digs and 29 blocks. She leads the Empire 8 with 4.13 kills and 4.47 points per set, while sitting second in the league with a .327 hitting percentage. Earlier in the season, Noble surpassed 1,000 career kills. Noble, a native of Fayetteville, NY, has slammed at least 10 kills in a match 24 times this season and was named the 2025 Empire 8 Championship Most Valuable Player.
Gutman, a middle blocker from Rochester, NY, leads the Empire 8 with a .344 hitting percentage to go along with 153 kills and 79 blocks. She has hit over .400 in a match 13 times. Gutman has 592 career kills, 224 blocks and has a .357 hitting percentage over three seasons.
Hartpence was named the E8 Libero/Defensive Specialist of the Year for the second time in 2025, having also earned the honor in 2023. She has recorded 340 digs for an average of 3.54 digs per set, in addition to 104 assists and 22 service aces. Most impressively, Hartpence has just 15 reception errors in 417 total attempts this season and was even stronger in league play, with just three reception errors in 161 attempts (.981 reception percentage). She is a main reason why St. John Fisher leads all of Division III in allowing the lowest opponents hitting percentage (0.048) and is seventh in hitting percentage (.261).
The Cardinals, who have won 29 straight matches and are 29-1 on the season, return to action against Wentworth in the opening round of the NCAA Women's Volleyball Tournament at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 20 from Goldfarb Gymnasium on the campus of Johns Hopkins University.
