Empire 8 institutions Alfred University, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Geneseo, Houghton University, and St. John Fisher University men's and women's programs were named 2024 NCAA Division III All-Academic Teams, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Utica University women's team also earned that honor.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers.
On the women's side, St. John Fisher excelled in the classroom with a tremendous 3.7 GPA, while Houghton recorded an excellent 3.65 mark and Brockport finished with a 3.64 GPA. League champion Geneseo recorded a 3.5 mark, while Utica had a team GPA of 3.37 and Alfred compiled a 3.15 grade-point average.
The St. John FIsher men led all E8 men's institutions with a team GPA of 3.51, Houghton was right behind them with a 3.485 GPA. Alfred and 2024 E8 Champions Geneseo had an excellent 3.36 mark with Brockport close behind with 3.33.
