Senior pitcher Ainsley Evanetski of the St. John Fisher University softball team was named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division III National Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, April 15.
Evanetski threw her first collegiate perfect game in a doubleheader sweep of Keuka College on Sunday afternoon, striking out 14 of the 21 batters she faced, including the first 10 in a row, in the 4-0 win. On Saturday, Evanetski struck out a career-high 18 batters in a 7-2 win over Elmira on Saturday. She scattered four hits and a walk and recorded a miniscule 0.36 WHIP on the week with 32 strikeouts to just one walk. Evanetski has now struck out 60 of the 86 batters she's faced over her last four games.
St. John Fisher is currently 17-10 overall and 9-1 in the conference. They sit at the top of the Empire 8 conference with six more league double headers to play. They play Alfred University on Thursday, April 17.
