The Empire 8 Conference announced its 2025 Empire 8 Baseball Championship All-Tournament Team on Wednesday, May 14. Senior pitcher Anthony Lapine of SUNY Brockport was named the Empire 8 Tournament Most Valuable Player after leading the Golden Eagles to their first league title in their first season as an E8 member.
Lapine led a dominant Brockport pitching performance throughout the E8 Tournament, twirling a complete-game four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts in the Empire 8 Championship round against Russell Sage Friday, which was a 1-0 win for Golden Eagles that advanced them to the title game. Lapine needed just 103 pitches, recording 10 groundouts, eight flyouts and eight strikeouts. Overall, Brockport’s pitching staff allowed just nine hits and one run over 27 innings in E8 Tournament play, out-scoring opponents, 22-1. Lapine was one of four SUNY Brockport student-athletes to earn All-Tournament Team honors.
