Alfred University, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Geneseo, Hartwick College, Houghton University, Nazareth University, Russell Sage College, St. John Fisher University and Utica University will compete at the two-day 2025-26 Empire 8 Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships starting at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 27 from the Golisano Training Center on the campus of Nazareth. SUNY Geneseo will look to repeat as Empire 8 Champions. Day two action will begin on Saturday, February 28 at 11 a.m.

2025-26 Empire 8 Team Capsules (Order Based on 2024-25 Championship Finish)
SUNY Geneseo enters the 2026 E8 Championship meet ranked seventh in the USTFCCCA Division III Women’s Indoor Track and Field rankings and are the top team in the Niagara Region. The Knights, who rolled to the 2025 E8 Championship, have tremendous depth throughout the lineup, enter the championship meet with the top performance in 10 events and have a handful of student-athletes among the national leaders. Brynn Mooney is the defending NCAA Champion in the 400-meters. Mooney, the 200- and 400-meter dash E8 Champion, has the top E8 time in the 400-meters and is 18th nationally in the event. Jillian Ambler broke Empire 8 records earlier in the season in both the 200-meters and long jump. She is ranked second nationally in the long jump at 5.94 meters and is the defending E8 Champion. Sierra Doody is the defending E8 Champion in the 800-meters and mile and enters the E8 Championship with the top time in Division III in the 800-meters. Nicole Gretzinger, Dakota Limbert and Stella Riley are also top contenders in the middle-distance events, while Ann Brennan, Ari Reback, Annika Hurley, Alexa Kosier and Ella Grinnell will look to contend in the distance events as well. Lainey Flaitz and Mackenzie Kubat enter the meet ranked second and third in the E8 in the high jump, while Kubat is second behind Ambler in the long jump and Marisa Mazzacco is fourth. Elsye Klump is a top contender in the triple jump, while Lauren Jaklitsch holds the E8 record and is fourth nationally with a throw of 18.71 meters in the weight throw. Payton Mehalick will also contend in the shot put, while Ashley Tibbs will look for a podium spot in the weight throw. Geneseo has the top time in the league in 4 x 400-meter relay (3:49.20) and is 14th nationally in the event.
Nazareth won back-to-back Empire 8 Championships in 2023 and 2024 and enters with a deep group of student-athletes throughout the lineup. The Golden Flyers will look to defend their distance medley relay title from 2025. Isabel Morse is the three-time defending champion in the pole vault and is ranked first in the E8 and 17th nationally in the event this season. Kiara Tornusciolo is ranked second in the league in the pole vault, while Rosie Morse enters third and Ashlyn Weakly, fifth. Samantha Luba is a top contender in the pentathlon, entering first in the conference and 21st nationally. Jasmine Kendrick is fifth in the long jump, while Emily Rollnice is ranked sixth in the conference in the shot put and Alaina Morley is a medal candidate in the high jump. Amber Hayes and Luba enter the weekend as top contenders in the 60-meter hurdles. Ella Impaglia and Kelsey Fahy will contend in the middle distance events. Morley enters the meet also ranked fourth in the conference in the 60-meter dash, while Alexis Lasher is set to contend in all three sprint events. The Golden Flyers enter the weekend ranked sixth in the USTFCCCA Niagara region.
SUNY Brockport is ranked tenth in the Niagara region as the Golden Eagles look to improve off a third place finish at the 2025 Empire 8 Championship. Ethne Degan is ranked second in the Empire 8 in the 800-meters, while Salma Moumen is a strong contender in both the 3,000- and 5,000-meter events. On the field side, Sasha Schramm will look to medal in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump, while Isabel Swyers and Becca Bready are medal contenders in the pole vault. Meghan Muscarella enters the weekend ranked third in the long jump, while Allie Wojciechowski is ranked fifth in the league in the triple jump. The Golden Eagles have a deep group of throwers, looking to advance to the medals podium. Trinity Dees is ranked second in the league in the shot put, while Rhian Crowley is fifth in the weight throw. Bella Rivera and Katrina Chandler will also contend in the throws.
St. John Fisher will look to get back to the Empire 8 Championship podium this weekend. Erin McGuiness is the defending E8 Champion in the shot put and enters the 2026 meet ranked fourth in the league. First-year Makenna Keough is the current E8 leader in the triple jump (11.33 meters), ranked inside the top-35 nationally. Jazelle McIntyre is ranked second in the league in the weight throw, while Caelyn Eiser will contend in the pentathlon and jumps and Kathryn Hilliard is a contender in the high jump. On the track side, Abigail Dorunda is a strong contender in both the 60- and 200-meters, ranked in the top-five of the league in both events entering the championship. Juliana Riemersma is ranked in the 400-meters. Caitlin Voloshen is a top runner in the middle distance events, ranked fourth in the league in the mile and fifth in the 800-meters entering the championship. Brianne Hurlburt is also a contender in the 800-meters, while Olivia Grinell is set to contend in the longer distance events.
Utica has several standout student-athletes who will vie for individual titles, as the Pioneers will aim to win their first league title in program history. Laura Suppa is a top contender in both the 60-meters and 60-meter hurdles, as she enters both events ranked second in the league. She is also ranked eighth nationally in the 60-meter hurdles and held the E8 record in the event earlier in the season. Arianna McLendon won the 2024 E8 Championship in the 400-meters, while sophomore Shiann Williams is a top contender in the sprint events. Catherine Manna and Marlo Townsend will represent Utica in the distance events. Hannah Allison was the 2024 E8 Champion in the high jump and is ranked third in the league in the event this season. Jade Bailey is right behind, ranked fifth. Allie Cary is the current leader in the shot put, ranked seventh nationally at 14.19 meters. Hailey Hrouda and Riley King will also look to medal in the throws, while Stefania Grimaldi will contend in the pentathlon. She enters the meet ranked second in the league to date this season. Houghton will look to win its first E8 title in 2026. Junior Victoria Brewster, a 2025 NCAA All-American, enters the meet with the top time among all E8 student-athletes in the 60-meter dash (7.61), which is also 11th nationally. She is the two-time defending league champion in the 60-meters, 2024 E8 Champion in the 200-meters and was the 2024 Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year. Alexa Belanger, the 2025 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, enters the meet with the best leap in the high jump this season among E8 student-athletes and is tied for 28th nationally in the event at 1.64 meters. She is the defending E8 Champ in the event and earned Second Team All-America accolades. Kyra and Jenna Binney will look to earn team points in the middle distance events, while Noelle Linenfelser, Emberlynn Nolt and Aria Larson lead a deep group of distance runners. Maggie Almeter and Mackenzie York will look to earn top finishes in the throwing events.
Alfred enters the 2026 Empire 8 Championship looking to make strong strides as a program. Natalya Ryckman, and Meridian Bremel will contend for medals in the shot put and weight throw events, while Zoe Rainville and Nyah Allen will be set to compete in the sprint events. Vladyslava Makareko has also qualified in the 5,000-meters.
Russell Sage will look to improve on last season’s finish. Alexius Smith is Russell Sage’s top student-athlete in the high jump, while Mia Merino will look to earn points in the shot put. Mercedez Cecelia-Storey and Mia Paniccia have qualified in the weight throw, while Catherine Newkirk and Stephanie Beyer can compete in the 60-meter hurdles.
Hartwick will look to make strong strides forward at the 2026 E8 Championship. Brynita Haas will look to contend for Hartwick’s in the distance events, while Morgan Branconnier has qualified for the weight throw and Maiya King is Hartwick’s top candidate in the pole vault. The Hartwick distance medley relay enters the meet with the third best time in the league to date this season.
