Nationally-ranked SUNY Geneseo holds the lead after Friday’s action at the 2026 Empire 8 Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship, held the Golisano Training Center on the campus of Nazareth University.
The Knights, who are looking for their second straight Empire 8 title, has 124.5 points, nearly doubling host Nazareth University, who has 63 points. St. John Fisher is third in the league with 39 points, while SUNY Brockport is fourth with 36.5.
Jillian Ambler of SUNY Geneseo won the long jump in a resounding way, breaking her own championship meet record and shattered her all-time E8 record with a leap of 6.11 meters (20’ 0.5”) which moves her into second in all of Division III this season.
Nazareth senior Isabel Morse won her fourth straight Empire 8 Championship in the pole vault with a personal best vault of 3.91 meters, moving her into the top-10 in Division III this season. She led a 1-2-3 sweep for the Golden Flyers in the pole vault, with Kiara Tornusciolo finishing second and sister Rosie Morse in third.
SUNY Geneseo’s Mackenzie Kubat won the 2026 Empire 8 pentathlon by 164 points over Samantha Luba of Nazareth University, compiling 3,634 points, which is currently the second best performance in all of Division III this season. She was the top finisher in the high jump and long jump. Luba has moved into the top-12 nationally as well.
Ethne Degan of SUNY Brockport opened the day by winning the mile run by just over two seconds over Shelby Boise of SUNY Geneseo in a time of 5:02.52.
Brynn Mooney of SUNY Geneseo rolled to a win in the 400-meters, hitting the line first in 57.66 seconds for her second straight E8 title. She is also the defending NCAA Division III Champion in the event.
Erin McGuinness of St. John Fisher won the shot put for the second straight season with a throw of 13.41 meters (44 feet).
Ari Reback made a strong move just before the halfway mark of the 5,000-meters to take the lead and pull away to win the race by just under 35 seconds in a time of 17:14.1.
Geneseo’s distance medley relay team of Hannah Wierer, Dakota Limbert, Dia Sweet and Maggie Kiebler earned a win by six seconds in a time of 12:23.22.
Action continues Saturday morning from Nazareth at 10:30 a.m., with nine finals events up for grabs.
