Empire 8 Well Represented as 2025-26 USBWA Rochester Area Men's Basketball Selections are Announced

Jaylen Savage of Nazareth Earns Back-to-Back Player of the Year Honors; Tom Wilk of Keuka Earns Coach of the Year

Ten Empire 8 student-athletes were selected to the 2025-26 United States Basketball Writers Association Rochester Area NCAA Division II-III Teams. The team was selected by The Rochester Chapter of the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. Jaylen Savage of Nazareth University was named the Player of the Year for the second straight year, while Tom Wilk of Keuka College was named the Coach of the Year.
 
Savage, Merritt Holly and Luke Insley of Nazareth University, Josh Garelle of SUNY Geneseo, Lamar Lovelace of Keuka College, Maximus Michalski of St. John Fisher University and Jacob Oka of SUNY Brockport were named to the USBWA Rochester Area First Team, while Trevor Hofer and Robert Pericolosi of SUNY Geneseo and Akinlana Popoola of Keuka were Honorable Mention selections.

Savage earned honors for the fourth straight season, Garelle and Insley are three-time selections and Popoola is a two-time selection. 
 
Student-athletes were selected from the nine Rochester area institutions which include: Keuka, Nazareth and St. John Fisher from the Empire 8, Roberts Wesleyan College, University of Rochester, RIT, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Geneseo and Hobart and William Smith College.
