St. John Fisher University, the two-time defending Empire 8 Champions, is ranked No. 28 in the AVCA preseason poll. The AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll is voted on by NCAA Division III Coaches.
The Red Dragons won their sixth Empire 8 title in seven years in 2025.
St. John Fisher closed a historic season with an 30-2 record. The Cardinals won their first match of the 2025 NCAA Tournament over Wentworth Institute of Technology in 3-0 sweep. They went on to play the University of La Verne in the second round and went down 3-0.
The 2026 regular season for all twelve Empire 8 institutions begins Tuesday, Sep. 1. The Cardinals first match of the season is a powerhouse of a matchup against the number 18 ranked Ithaca College on that Tuesday. First serve is at 5:00 p.m. at St. John Fisher.
