The SUNY Geneseo men's and women's cross country teams both earned spots in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) preseason poll, with the men's team coming in at No. 5 and the women's team at No. 19.
The men's team is ranked fifth to begin the season. The Knights are coming off a second place finish at last year's NCAA Championship meet, and return several talented runners in Emerson Comer and Pierce Young, who were All-Americans finishing in 15th and 29th respectively.
The women's team enters the 2026 season after they finished 22nd overall at the NCAA Championship meet. The Knights also lose their top two finishers from the championship meet in Ann Brennan and Sierra Doody. Geneseo's key returners include Ari Reback and Kaitlyn Hotaling, who the back-to-back Empire 8 Rookies of the Year in 2024 and 2025.
