The Empire 8 Conference is accepting applications for the Empire 8 Assistant Commissioner internship. This is a 20-month internship during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic years funded through the NCAA Division III Ethnic Minority & Women’s Internship Grant program. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
 
The assistant commissioner will be actively involved in all aspects of operations and administration in the 23-sport NCAA Division III conference, including championships, compliance and governance, sports information, marketing and communications, awards, scheduling, grant administration, video editing, social media programming and website management. In addition, the assistant commissioner will assist in the supervision of the Empire 8 Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), helping organize all Empire 8 conference-wide programming, including the annual Empire 8 Student-Athlete Leadership Summit. Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the commissioner and associate commissioner.
 
The position will be based remotely, preferably in the Northeast region of the United States. The selected candidate will report to the Associate Commissioner. The anticipated position start date is August, 2021. Annual salary will be $23,660 plus a $500 technology stipend, a $3,500 home office stipend and $3,000 for professional development ($30,660 total).
 
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in a related field (public relations/English/communications/sport management/etc.) with strong interpersonal, written and multimedia communication skills. The candidate must be available to work nights and weekends. Candidates with experience in sports information, video editing, graphic design, event management, website management and/or as a Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) representative are preferred. Familiarity with statistical software programs and/or desktop publishing software is a plus.
