Melita placed eighth in a time of 8:37.79 at the very competitive 3,000-meter event at the Central New York Valentine meet at Utica that saw four NCAA top-50 performances. Melita's time broke the school record and qualified him for the All-Atlantic Region Championships championships. It is also the top-time in the Empire 8 this season.
