Heichberger brought home two wins for the Golden Flyers at the Geneseo Early Season Invite in shot put and hammer throw. He earned a first-place mark of 56.72 meters (186' 1" feet) in the hammer throw. In addition, Heichberger threw 16.64 meters  (54 '7" ¼ ft) for another first-place finish in shot put, posting a regional qualification mark. He moved into the top 15 nationally with both performances.
