Dewart claimed the national championship in the pentathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. She ran a season-best 2:24.60 in the 800-meter run to close out the competition. Dewart, the second women’s track and field national champion in school history, won the 55 hurdles (8.55 seconds) and the high jump (1.67 meters), and placed second in the long jump (5.44 meters) and shot put (8.06 meters). Her time of 2:24.60 in the 800 meters was more than a seven-second improvement on her season-best.
