Senior Sammy Jo Shanahan broke the Alfred University school record in career saves this past week. She tied the record after Saturday’s 2-1 overtime win against The Sage Colleges. Shanahan had six saves in the match before she officially broke the record on Sunday as the Saxons hosted Hartwick College. She finished the game with five saves in the 0-1 loss. The record was previously 542 saves set by Julie Francis ’92, making it a 25-year old record. Shanahan now has 547 saves on her career with five more games. For the week, Shanahan made 25 saves with a 1.67 GAA in three starts with 8.33 saves per game.
