Colton Thorp was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday, Oct. 21. Thorp becomes the 11th Empire 8 student-athletes to earn the prestigious weekly honor in 2025.
Thorp, a senior cornerback from Hilton, NY, was previously named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. He helped hold Alfred State to 13-for-35 passing with 109 yards, in Saturday's 48-14 win. Thorp was credited with four pass breakups on the day. To go with a career-best showing defending the pass, Thorp also made a big hit for a solo tackle in space.
Thorp now has 13 total tackles (10 solo), 1.5 tackles for loss and a team-high four pass breakups this season.
All E8 teams are in action on Saturday, Oct. 25, with just four weekends left in the regular season. SUNY Cortland heads to St. John Fisher University in a battle of Empire 8 unbeaten programs, as kickoff from Growney Stadium begins at 1 p.m. SUNY Morrisville hosts SUNY Brockport and Alfred University hosts Utica University at noon. Alfred State College hosts Hartwick College in the finale Saturday at 4 p.m.
