SUNY Geneseo and St. John Fisher University represented the Empire 8 Conference in the final Fall 2025 LEARFIELD Directors' Cup Standings. A total of 178 Division III institutions were represented this fall. Updated standings will be announced after the winter sports season is concluded.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
SUNY Geneseo is 25th nationally after the fall season with 192 points. The Knights won Empire 8 Championships in men's cross country, women's cross country, field hockey and men's soccer during the fall. Geneseo placed second overall at the NCAA Men's Cross Country Championship and earned points for competing in the NCAA Women's Cross Country, Field Hockey and Men's Soccer Championships.
St. John Fisher won Empire 8 Championships in women's soccer and women's volleyball and competed in the NCAA Championship Tournament in both sports. The Cardinals, who finished 30-2 and won their first NCAA Tournament match in women's volleyball since 1997, are tied for 66th nationally with 75 points following the fall season.
Hartwick College won the 2025 Empire 8 Women's Tennis Championship and will compete in the NCAA Championship Tournament in May, 2026.
SUNY Cortland, who competes primarily as a member of the SUNYAC, was the Empire 8 Champion in football, advancing to the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Red Dragons are 32nd overall with 171.5 points.
