League record 28 student-athletes to Represent Empire 8 at 2026 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

The 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships qualifiers were announced on Sunday evening with a total of 28 student-athletes from the Empire 8 Conference qualifying to compete for national titles. The meet will run March 13-14 at the Golisano Training Center hosted at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. Live video of the meet will be available at NCAA.com.

A total of six Empire 8 institutions have at least one student-athlete who qualified and are entered in the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships. Empire 8 Champion SUNY Geneseo has a total of 16 student-athletes competing. SUNY Brockport, Nazareth University and Utica University each have three student-athketes competing, while St. John Fisher University has two student-athletes competing, while Houghton University has one student-athlete at nationals.

There are 12 E8 women's student-athletes competing in a combined nine different events (eight individual and one relay). Junior Jillian Ambler of SUNY Geneseo is competing in three separate events (60-meter hurdles, long jump and 4 x 400-meter relay), while teammate Nicole Gretzinger is in the 800-meters and 4 x 400-meter relay. Brynn Mooney of SUNY Geneseo, the 2025 NCAA Champion in the 400-meters, is set to compete in the 4 x 400-meter relay. Ambler, Sierra Doody and Mooney of Geneseo, Victoria Brewster of Houghton University and Isabel Morse of Nazareth University are returning All-Americans who are competing this weekend.

On the men's side, 16 different student-athletes are competing in 11 events (nine individual and two relays). Hunter Logan of Utica is competing in the shot put for the third time. Returning All-American Jacob Miller of SUNY Geneseo is set to compete in both the 400-meter dash and 4 x 400-meter relay, while fellow returning All-American Gabriel Giannini of SUNY Brockport will compete in both the long jump and heptathlon and teammate Dennis Bobbitt is looking for All-American honors in both the long jump and triple jump. Ryan Hagan of Geneseo is set to compete in the distance medley relay and 3,000-meters. Three of Geneseo's four All-Americans who competed in the 2025 4 x 400-relay are back, including Miller, Sam Belmont and Arjun Ohja.

For each men’s individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the championships.  For each women’s individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the championships.  For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the championships.
