ANNAPOLIS, MD – Freshman standout Sydney Gagnon (Chestertown, NY/North Warren Central) has received yet another accolade thanks to her stellar rookie season for 'Wick field hockey in 2019, this time earning a nod on Synapse Sports' Division III All-Rookie Team. She is the first Hartwick student-athlete to be named to the team since it was established in 2013.
Gagnon, named the fourth Empire 8 Rookie of the Year in program history last month as well as to the All-Conference First Team, led all Hawks in points, with 33 on 14 goals and five assists. She was near the top of the conference in numerous statistical categories, including goals, points, and shots, and assisted on a crucial insurance goal in the Empire 8 Semifinal against Utica. Gagnon was also selected (along with Brooke Singer (Johnson City, NY/Maine-Endwell)) to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's (NFHCA) North Atlantic All-Region First Team, the first Hartwick First Team selection since 2012.
