What Type of Community Service Have You Done: Sage Engaged: community cleanups and sorting returnable bottles and cans for the humane society. I have participated in Chompers, a reading program through the SAAC group here at Sage that entails student-athletes traveling to nearby schools, reading and sharing books with the kids, doing arts and crafts, and engaging with the students. Every year Sage Athletics does a school supply drive where student-athletes deliver the donated supplies to a local elementary school.

Plans After Graduation: Pursue a master’s degree in Health Services Administration.

What Do You See Yourself Doing in 5 Years: I would like to be working in an administrative position at either a hospital or other health service-based organization, improving community health through focused programming.

What is Your Ultimate Professional Goal: My ultimate goal is to earn an executive position at a large health institution and lead initiatives focused on promoting preventative health activities, ideally through community engagement and improved health literacy education.

Any Interesting or Exciting Internships You Have Done or Are Currently Working On: I was a Human Resources intern for the retail and catalog business The Vermont Country Store the summer before my junior year, and was asked to come back this past summer as a temporary HR coordinator, where I learned about all things recruiting, payroll, employee wellness and benefits, and worker’s compensation.

How Has Playing in the Empire 8 Prepared You For Life After College: Time management is obviously a huge take-away from the collegiate athlete experience. Playing in the Empire 8 has certainly taught me a lot about working within a diverse population.

Favorite Athletic Memory from Your Time in College: During the 2018-2019 season, we beat Westfield State University 115-111. This score broke the school record for points scored in a game at Sage and it was just a really fun game to be a part of. Both teams were just leaving everything on the floor and hustling every second, and that’s what the sport is all about.

Biggest On-Campus Mentor: I have gotten great advice from a variety of people on campus, in athletics and in the classroom!

What Have You Learned About Yourself from Freshman to Senior Year: I have learned that it’s okay to accept and embrace change in myself and in others. We are all just trying to figure out who we are and where we want to be.

What Type of Leader Are You: I am big on leading by example. I have always looked up to people who hustle on seemingly dead plays or who push themselves to do great and not just okay on the court and in the classroom. It isn’t all about who can give the most riveting ore-game speech or get the team rowdy when they need energy (even though those are just as important)v- When your passionate about what you’re doing and you’re giving 101%, people will notice and they will (hopefully) want to do the same.

One Thing Most People Do Not Know About You: While I did play basketball in high school, soccer was my main sport before college, but after graduation I decided to pursue basketball instead!

Advice for Freshmen Teammates or Student-Athletes: Understand that even if you don’t think so, there is someone out there who looks up to you. Your actions say a lot about who you are but they can also influence the people who view you as a role model, so just always keep that in mind.
