PITTSFORD, NY – The St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse season is quickly approaching and three members of the team are already being recognized on the national level. Juniors Nicholas Miller, Jack Mulvihill and Joe Post were all selected as Preseason Men's Division III All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse.
All three Cardinals earned Honorable Mention status. At the end of the 2019 season, Miller, Mulvihill and Post were named Honorable Mention All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association. The trio will look to join alums Kyle Denhoff and Mike Blood as they only players in program history to earn a Postseason All-American honor in multiple years.
Miller comes off his program-record 82 goal season which ranked second in all of Div. III. The Ithaca native posted 32 assists for a program-record 114 points in a single season. Miller was First Team All-Conference honoree while breaking the league record for goals and points in a single year.
The attacker scored four goals in the Empire 8 Championship game at Stevens as the Cardinals captured their first-ever conference title. Currently Miller is fourth on the program's all-time goal list and sixth on the all-time points list. The junior is 29 goals and 57 points away from becoming the all-time leader in each category.
Mulvihill took a giant leap forward in his sophomore season as he more than doubled his goal, assist and ground ball output he had in his first season with Fisher. The midfielder recorded 33 goals, 17 assists and 60 ground balls leading to be tabbed a First Team All-Conference selection.
The Dewitt native stepped up for the Cardinals in their first game in the NCAA Div. III Championship at Gettysburg with a game-high four goals. Mulvihill's fourth tally tied the game with 38 seconds left in the fourth quarter, sending it to overtime where Fisher would ultimately come out victorious. His .701 career faceoff win percentage is the best in program history. For the upcoming season, the junior will serve as one of the team captains.
Post heads into his third season with the program on the heels of a record-breaking 2019. The face-off specialist broke his own single-season program record for ground balls (244) while setting a new record for faceoff wins with 336. Both marks broke conference records while the Canandaigua native led the nation in ground balls while ranking second in faceoff wins.
In addition to breaking single-season records, Post broke the E8 single-game record for ground balls (27) and faceoff wins (28) in the Cardinals' victory against Hartwick on May 1st of last season. The junior earned his second All-Conference selection in as many years while being tabbed First Team for the first time.
