HOUGHTON, NY – The Houghton College Men's Lacrosse team caught fire from the get-go in their home opener on Wednesday night over Medaille College 20-1.
The Highlanders' high powered offense found the net early and often with their first goal of the season coming just 88 seconds into the contest as Daniel Williamson got the night rolling off of a Michael Wrobel assist.
By the end of the first quarter the team had built up a commanding 7-0 lead. By halftime, the team stretched their lead to 11-0.
After a Nathan Anderson shot stretched the lead to 12-0, Medaille countered with their lone goal of the night off the stick of Tanner Delorme.
Less than a minute later, Austin Andryshak would find the net for the third time that night, and the Highlanders never looked back. When the final horn rang, it was the Highlanders on top in a convincing 20-1 victory.
A balanced attack was demonstrated by the Highlanders with eight different players scoring on the evening.
Daniel Williamson led the way with four goals while Nathan Anderson, Jonathan Mayer, Austin Andryshak, and Lyle Warrior contributed three goals apiece. Stephen Gonzalez put two shots in the net, while Joel Bean and Michael Wrobel each chipped in a score.

"It was a great team effort, and we played well on both ends of the field. It was important for us to execute our game plan from the opening whistle, and we were able to keep that momentum rolling throughout the game. It is a great start to the season, and we are looking forward to getting back to practice tomorrow to prepare for our next game."
