Men's Lacrosse | 1/29/2021 1:03:30 PM

St. John Fisher men’s lacrosse standout Jack Mulvihill was named to the NCAA Division III Management Council on Friday, Jan. 15. Mulvihill, who also represents the Empire 8 on the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, will serve in both areas through January, 2022.

Mulvihill, a senior, is a standout on both the lacrosse field and in the classroom. A 2019 All-Empire 8 first team selection, Mulvihill was also named a 2020 Inside Lacrosse Division III preseason All-American. He recorded nine goals and 16 points in five games in 2020. He tallied 33 goals and 50 points in 2019 and has career totals of 54 goals and 85 points in 41 games over three seasons.

A native of Syracuse, NY, Mulvihill, who also serves on St. John Fisher’s SAAC, holds a spectacular 3.95 grade-point average as an inclusive adolescence education major. He is a mainstay on the Empire 8’s President’s List, having earned the prestigious honor seven times for recording a GPA of at least a 3.75.

“We are excited to have Jack represent Empire 8 and our student-athletes on both the Management Council and national SAAC committees,” said Empire 8 Commissioner Chuck Mitrano. “In a very short time Jack has proven his ability to lead and build support on various key issues within the association. This is a very well deserved appointment and excellent opportunity to serve not just the Empire 8 membership, but all Division III student-athletes.”

Mulvihill will be tasked with interpreting Division III bylaws, make recommendations to the Presidents' Council related to Division III matters, recommend legislative proposals for sponsorship, adopt non-controversial and intent-based amendments related to Division III governance, and more as a member of NCAA Management Council.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) represents the Division III student-athlete voice in the Division III governance structure by reviewing legislation; identifying significant student-athlete issues; implementing national student-athlete based initiatives; encouraging community outreach; and enhancing Division III student-athlete involvement in and understanding of Division III in general.  The SAAC is also the committee that is primarily responsible for maintaining and coordinating the division’s nationwide partnership with Special Olympics.
