Both the St. John Fisher lacrosse programs are nationally ranked in their respective 2021 Division III preseason polls. The women are ranked No. 12 in the preseason Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association poll, while the men are ranked No. 15 in both the preseason United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and Nike/US Lacrosse polls.
St. John Fisher’s women’s program is looking for its ninth straight Empire 8 title in 2021. The Cardinals are coming off a tremendous 2019 season in which they finished 19-2 and advanced to the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals set single-season program records with a 17-game winning streak, 19 total wins and led all of Division III in scoring defense, allowing just 4.81 goals per game. The Cardinals were off to a 3-0 start in 2020 before the season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. St. John Fisher has a 130-34 record since the start of the 2012 season and has won 10 Empire 8 titles.
The men of St. John Fisher won their first Empire 8 Championship in 2019 and set a program record for victories in a season with 17, while and advancing to the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals were among the top-10 nationally in several categories, including scoring offense (17.30 goals per game) and scoring margin (9.50 goals per game).
