Koch and Hough Lead Nazareth Past Clarkson

Senior John Koch and freshman Ryan Hough each won three events to lead the Nazareth College Men's Swimming and Diving team past Clarkson University Saturday afternoon on the road. Nazareth scored a 154-72 victory in the team scoring.

Koch and Hough helped Nazareth get off to a good start as they teamed with junior Tom Griffin and senior Luca Biagiotti to win the 200 Medley Relay with a combined time of 1:53.43.

Koch added victories in the 100 butterfly (1:01.54) and the 100 breaststroke (1:11.90). Hough won the 100 freestyle for Nazareth with a time of 54.79 and also helped the 200 freestyle relay to a first place finish. The team of Hough, Griffin, junior Sean Payrot and Biagiotti finished with a winning time of 1:40.28.

Senior diver Sidney Taylor posted a pair of wins in the diving events with a 248.25 on the 1-meter board and a 242.75 on the 3-meter board.

Freshman Cameron Fairley won twice with a victory in the 800 free (9:14.09) and a first in the 100 backstroke (1:06.14). Junior Joseph Knapp was the top finisher in the 200 freestyle (2:05.29) and freshman Chad Buccella took first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:23.61.

Sophomore Dylan Long was second in the 800 free, Payrot was second in the 50 free, Buccella was second in the 100 fly and junior Luke Winkelman was the runner-up finisher in the 200 IM.

The men will compete next weekend at Alfred in the final regular-season meet before the Empire 8 Championships scheduled for April 1 and 3.
