St. John Fisher College sophomore Riley Corey was named Runner of the Meet and Russell Sage freshman Mackenzie Feeney was named Rookie of the Meet, as the Empire 8 announced its 2021 Spring Women’s Cross Country All-Conference awards on Thursday, April 15. The individual awards are voted on by the league's head coaches.

Corey, the 2019 Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, rolled to an impressive victory by 34 seconds over the second place finisher at the 2021 E8 Spring Women’s Cross Country Championship at Houghton’s Field of Dreams Course on April 9 in a time of 18:43.1 over 5,000-meters. She led the Cardinals to their first Empire 8 team title.

Feeney recorded the top finish by a first-year runner at the 2021 E8 Spring Women’s Cross Country Championship, crossing the finish line third overall in a time of 19:32.6. It is the highest finisher by a Russell Sage student-athlete at the Empire 8 Cross Country Championships. The Gators placed third overall in the team scoring, also a program-best.

The St. John Fisher coaching staff, led by head coach Mike Henchen was honored as the 2021 Empire 8 Spring Coaching Staff of the Year. Henchen led St. John Fisher to its first Empire 8 Championship. In addition, he mentored seven all-league selections, including league champion Riley Corey and fellow first team picks Morgan Gould, Lauren Demichele, Laura Witt and Chelsea Lamphere.

The Empire 8 first and second team selections were determined at the championship meet on April 9 at Houghton. The top-10 finishers earned first team honors, while finishers 11-20 garnered second team accolades. Corey of St. John Fisher was the individual champion, winning the race by 34 seconds on her way to earning her second straight All-Empire 8 first team honor. Sophomore Amanda Burrichter of Houghton picked up her second straight first team accolade.

One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2021 Spring Women's Cross Country Sportswoman of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
