PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The greatest faceoff specialist in Division III history will have a chance to make his mark at the next level. The Chrome Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced on Wednesday the addition of recent St. John Fisher College graduate, Joe Post, to the team's 30-man training camp roster.
Post is the second Cardinal from this year's nationally-ranked team to earn an opportunity in the professional ranks. In September, teammate Nicholas Miller was drafted by the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League (NLL), the professional indoor circuit, using his final season of eligibility this spring.
Post, a Canandaigua native, will have the opportunity to play for Rochester-area lacrosse legend and Chrome LC head coach Tim Soudan of Fairport. During training camp, he will compete with Connor Farrell for reps at the faceoff dot. Farrell won 104 of his 217 attempts for Chrome LC in 2021 and was sixth in the league with a 47.9 faceoff win percentage.
The 2022 Empire 8 Conference Player of the Year, Post concluded his career with the Cardinals in a record-setting fashion. He not only owns the Division III record for most faceoff wins (1,250), but he also became the first player in D-III history to surpass 800 career ground balls and owns the all-time record with 854. This spring, Post ranked second in the nation in ground balls per game (12.47) and was seventh in faceoff win percentage (.723).
Likely to repeat as a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American when the awards are released later this month, Post was tabbed a preseason All-American in February. Last year, he became the first Cardinal in program history to be named an All-America First-Team selection. Post is a four-time Empire 8 All-Conference honoree and just the second Fisher student-athlete crowned E8 Player of the Year.
With Post excelling on the draw, Fisher has ascended to new heights and cemented itself as a contender on the national stage. The Cardinals have advanced to the NCAA Championship tournament in each of the last three seasons. In the national polls, Fisher reached its highest ranking in team history at No. 4 and finished the 2022 season with a 16-3 overall record.
