For the second consecutive spring, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) has elected St. John Fisher College men's lacrosse standouts Ian Evans and Jack Mulvihill to the Academic All-District At-Large First Team.
To be considered, a student-athlete must be a sophomore and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30. Nominees must also make a significant impact on their team's success on the field of play. The at-large category not only includes lacrosse but covers a wide range of NCAA-sponsored sports such as fencing, tennis, ice hockey, skiing, and swimming, which makes it arguably the most competitive CoSIDA ballot.
Evans and Mulvihill will now be considered for prestigious CoSIDA Academic All-America awards. Last year, the duo became the first from the Fisher men's lacrosse team to receive Academic All-America accolades in recognition of their work in the classroom and on the field.
A former Empire 8 Conference Rookie and Player of the Year and a 2021 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Second-Team All-American, Evans proved once again why he's one of the most dangerous attackmen in program history. The senior from Lafayette, New York, established a new career-high with 59 goals and tied his previous best with 85 points. He scored a goal in every game, including a single-game career-high seven in the E8 Championship semifinals against Hartwick. He ranks second in program history in career points (272) and goals (167), and is third in assists (105).
A psychology major, Evans graduated with a cumulative 3.94 grade-point average.
Mulvihill was included on the Empire 8 All-Conference First Team for the third time as a Cardinal this spring. He was also named to the USILA All-America Second Team at the conclusion of the 2021 season and in the 2022 preseason poll. Known for his prowess as an offensive middie, the graduate student will also leave Fisher among the program's all-time top-10 scorers. This season, the Dewitt, New York, native was fourth on the team in goals (34) and assists (24) and tied in for third points (58). Another Cardinal to rack up points in all 19 games, Mulvihill tickled the twine with a season-best five goals to guide the Cardinals to a win over Nazareth in the E8 title game.
A member of the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Mulvihill earned an undergraduate degree from Fisher in Biology with a 3.87 GPA and currently holds a perfect 4.00 GPA in graduate school.
