PITTSFORD, NY – The St. John Fisher College women's lacrosse team learned its postseason path as the Cardinals will take on No. 12 York College of Pennsylvania on Saturday in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship. The matchup will mark the fourth time the Cardinals and Spartans have met in the NCAA Championship.
The Cardinals are coming off their 10th consecutive Empire 8 Championship over the weekend after defeating Nazareth College, 12-7, on Sunday afternoon while the Spartans (14-5) earned their way into the national tournament after defeating Stevenson University by a five goal margin, 12-7.
The winner of Saturday's contest will advance to the second round to take on No. 11 Wesleyan (Conn.) (13-4), which earned a first round bye with a hard-fought 5-4 win No. 1 Middlebury in the New England Small College Athletic Conference title game.
